Thrift of the Week posts are generally where I try to make a full outfit from second hand items purchased at op-shops. This week, though, I guess I just wanted toΒ talk about one of my favourite op-shop purchases of late.

The story goes like this. Girl sees bathrobeΒ at an opshop one day. Girl thinks, β€˜this bathrobeΒ looks like a jacket’. Girl proceeds to purchase bathrobeΒ and wears saidΒ bathrobeΒ as a jacket – and the outfit lived happily ever after. Well, I did have to do an impromptu chop on the hem to get it to a more jacket-like length, but other than that, this bathrobeΒ was just perfect as it is. The slouchy draped cut was made for normcore-ing. Check the way too cool contrast lapels and pockets.Β Of course, I don’t have to tell you, it’s comfortable as heck. Not bad for just $5.

Now I know what you’re thinking. You would never shop in the sleepwear section in a charity shop. That stuff’sΒ used, right? Well I got one piece of advice for you: wash it.

Ha! Yes, wash it. I shake my head when the excuse for not revelling in the joys of thrifting is ‘eww, used clothes!’, especially considering the chemicals that can be found in brand spanking new fast fashion – much more deserving of an ‘eww!’.
Regardless this robe/jacket is ridiculously good!

Completely agree with you! I do tend to feel a bit personally affronted when people bag out thrifting. They always have this attitude like they’re too good for it. Some of the best things I own come from charity shops, and they would have been $5 rather than $500!

hahaha that’s what I was going for. You wouldn’t believe it’s a bathrobe right? I think it pays to be open minded bout repurposing clothes.
