It’s an honour simply to see a new collection by Australian designer Toni Maticevski in person. However, for this year’s Mercedes-Benz Fashion Week Australia, yours truly was blown away by a whirlwind visit backstage prior to the 2015 show.
Being able to see every vivid detail of the makeup and hair styling, accessories, and, of course, the gowns themselves, is an insightful experience like no other. Here are some of my photos of the behind the scenes going-on’s at this year’s Maticevski show.
Toni Maticevski’s MBFWA 2015 collection conjured imagery of a sublime seascape: billowing waves, rolling sea foam and holographic fabrics that resembled ocean luminescence. Melodic tidal tunes playing throughout the runway befitted a feeling of being one with nature. Toni Maticevski, as only he can, created ethereal looks which were harmoniously structured and soft. The models, surrounded by translucent and seemingly weightless folds of silk and mesh neoprene, floated down the runway in every shade of a pastel ocean sunset.
Exclusive shoes by Tony Bianco completed this awe-inspiring show. If Tony Bianco ever makes those amazing perspex heels available for sale, I’ll be putting myself down for at least three pairs.
